Our Story
In 1969, Don Martin was running a thriving multi-truck HVAC service business in Calgary, Alberta. As demand grew, his large commercial clients began asking who could clean their ductwork and vents. Sensing an opportunity, Don brought one of the first duct cleaning trucks to Western Canada that same year. It marked the beginning of his lifelong passion for indoor air quality.
Fast forward to 2001. Don and his son Lane launched Modern Furnace and Air Duct Cleaning in sunny Kelowna, British Columbia. Lane had grown up in the business, learning alongside his father. They built a strong local reputation with the slogan “Is your furnace talking dirty?” and expanded the company into a successful multi-truck operation.
In 2005, Lane came across an article about a franchise model that aligned with their vision. He began laying the foundation for a new chapter. By May 2007, after thousands of hours of development, Don and Lane rebranded the company as Modern PURAIR®. They expanded the fleet, hired a talented team, built a head office, and set an ambitious goal:
To become Canada’s only coast-to-coast branded Indoor Air Quality company.
Their guiding principle, “Clean Air. We live and breathe it®,” continues to shape everything Modern PURAIR® does.
